Textile artist Teena Leonardi has always had a vision. At the age of 17 she turned to Transcendental Mediation, which guided her in making choices that allowed for creative expression and entrepreneurial pursuits. Years later, she finds herself continuing her spiritual path and an evolving student of world philosophy.

Her designs are produced by a variety of watercolor techniques done with liquid paint on silk which are then combined with hand-woven silk brocades for a striking effect.

Extensive travel throughout Teena's life sets the tone for the motifs found in her art. The paintings capture the feelings of peace, serenity, tranquility, and relaxation. They transport you to a resort ambience that rejuvenates the soul, relaxes the body, and captures the memory of languid leisure, sunrises, sunsets, ocean, warm sheltered waters. In short, the essence of island living.

The paintings at first glance are marked by beautiful images and colorations. But then, as you contemplate each piece, hidden details, things you might have missed are now noticeable, the depth of the meaning that wasn't revealed, opens up.

Her work is imbued with meditative quality. In fact, this is Teena's pursuit. Painting is her meditation. If affords her the opportunity to turn off her mind in order to tap into a more creative source. "My main objective," says Leonardi, "is to touch people deeply and create a harmonious and joyful effect through my art."

"To attain knowledge, add things every day.
To attain wisdom, remove things every day."
